Our Cardiology Department is seeking a Nightingale RN, an experienced ambulatory nurse who recently retired but wishes to share knowledge and mentor newer nurses within the organization. In this role, the caregiver delivers professional nursing care to a designated group of patients across a variety of ambulatory care settings, supporting both patient outcomes and the development of the nursing team.
A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide professional nursing care to a specified group of patients in a variety of ambulatory care settings.
Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment.
May perform telephone triage.
Notify physician/LIP of abnormal findings.
Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family, and health care team.
May assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response.
Provide health education to patients and families.
Develop, evaluate, adapt, and document education to learning needs.
May participate in quality initiatives and process improvements activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon rehire
Three years of experience in an RN Ambulatory position at the Cleveland Clinic immediately prior to retirement
Current demonstrated clinical competence
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelors of science in nursing (BSN)
Cardiology background
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
May require some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
