Overview of the role 

The Night Auditor at the Epicurean Hotel is responsible for providing exceptional guest service while performing overnight front desk operations and end-of-day financial auditing. This role ensures the accuracy of daily financial transactions, maintains hotel security during overnight hours, and delivers a welcoming and professional experience for all guests. The Night Auditor serves as the primary hotel representative overnight and must be dependable, detail-oriented, and service-focused.

What you have 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior hotel front desk, night audit, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Basic accounting or auditing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal direction 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in all situations.
  • Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS) and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

What you’ll do 

  • Balance and audit room revenue, food and beverage revenue, banquet revenue, cashier reports, and guest and house accounts to ensure accuracy; maintain and post daily balances in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform all specified day-closing and night audit procedures to prepare the hotel for the next business day, including preliminary reconciliations, detailing transactions, and submitting final reports to accounting and applicable profit centers.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute accurate daily financial and operational reports for hotel management.
  • Reconcile cashier reports with the restaurant system each night, researching, resolving, and posting any unresolved tickets from day shifts.
  • Accurately post charges, collect and verify methods of payment, process payments, and address guest billing inquiries or discrepancies.
  • Greet and interact with guests in person and over the phone, delivering exceptional, personalized customer service in alignment with Epicurean Hotel standards.
  • Process overnight check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and mobile arrivals by assigning rooms, producing room keys, escorting guests when appropriate, and assisting with luggage as needed.
  • Respond to and resolve guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly and professionally using established empowerment guidelines.
  • Monitor hotel activity during overnight hours to ensure guest safety and security; report any suspicious activity or unusual items in guest rooms or common areas to hotel leadership and/or the loss prevention team.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk environment.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments regarding guest needs, maintenance issues, and operational concerns.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and cash-handling guidelines.
  • Perform other necessary duties as reasonably assigned by management.
