MPLX NG & NGL Operations West Region is seeking an Operations Engineer. The Operations Engineer will provide engineering support, project management, technical stewardship, and oversight to gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant operations assets. This position will report to the Operations Engineering Manager and requires previous experience in the key areas of operations engineering, crude oil/natural gas/natural gas liquids gathering, pipelines, compression/pump facilities, and gas processing plants. The role focuses on providing operations engineering support and the development/execution of gathering, pipeline, compression, and gas plant-related projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identifies opportunities for improvement in operations, controls, and project execution while increasing use of continuous improvement tools and problem-solving skills.
• Drives collaboration between Support Groups and Operations.
• Supports and/or leads portions of outage work for Operations.
• Supports Environmental performance by proactively identifying potential permit compliance issues while developing resolution plans.
• Interprets, modifies and creates processing plant Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) and Material & Energy Balance (MEB) or gathering system maps & alignment sheets; Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's); and Material & Energy Balance (MEB).
• Walks down plant P&ID's and redline to reflect as-built status of equipment, piping, instruments, etc.
• Walks through the flow of the plant including drawing main plant flow from memory.
• Interprets, modifies, and creates controls-related documents including Controls Narrative and Cause and Effect (C&E).
• Develops a working knowledge of the different process operations including dehydration, stabilization, compression; filtration; separation; CO2 & H2S removal; etc. and is able to explain the difference between different methods for gas processing.
• Participates in site level initiatives to address operational, mechanical integrity, or PSM issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; mechanical or chemical preferred.
• Three (3) years of related experience required.
• Valid Driver's License Required.
