Summary of Position:
The Pastor of Next Steps provides pastoral leadership and direction to help congregants take clear, simple next steps in their spiritual journey. The vehicles include new believer follow-up, baptism, membership classes and follow-up, volunteerism, outreach, and prison ministries.
Principal Job Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with volunteers at all levels.
- Recruit, teach, train, and mentor volunteers to support ministry areas.
- Develop and implement strategies for increasing participation in areas of volunteerism.
- Lead, plan, and execute Next Step events and functions (weekend services, special services, and events) baptism weekends, outreach events, deacon meetings, volunteer trainings, etc.
Weekend Services
- Serve on weekend rotations (5 weeks on, 1 week off).
- Regularly serving as Point Pastor on the weekend.
Pastoral Duties
- Conduct weddings and funerals as needed.
- Conduct one-on-one biblical counseling as needed.
- Serve as part of the campus pastor-on-call rotation.
- Build and maintain healthy relationships with the Central team and participate in
- Central meetings and events as required.
- Lead and facilitate staff meetings as needed.
- Maintain a high level of collaboration with the ministry and support teams at the campus.
- Participate and contribute to campus Lead Team meetings.
- Participate in campus-wide and church-wide events as required.
- Ensure prompt and accurate reporting of metrics.
- Build and manage budgets, including Coupa maintenance and reporting.
- Planning Center Online – general PCO maintenance and upkeep including:
- Oversee ministry onboarding of new connect ministry volunteers.
- Maintain accurate volunteer team rosters and schedules within PCO.
- Learn, use, and champion Rock RMS to organize and execute all Next
- Steps functions.
General Skills & Qualifications:
- • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- • Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability.
- • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong aptitude to learn new software and systems.
General Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Sit/stand for long periods of time.
- Occasionally kneel or crouch.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
