NewsNation seeks a Senior Producer to join the show team for its flagship daily political program, The Hill. The senior producer is a key member of the show’s leadership team plays a lead role in overseeing planning and logistics. We’re looking for someone very knowledgeable about Washington politics, as well as state and local politics, and is mindful of how the intersection of politics and policy impacts voters across America. The position is based either at the network’s New York or Washington offices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists anchor and executive producer in setting show's editorial direction
Helps build rundowns for regular programming as well as breaking news and special programming
Coordinates the team: segment producers, associate producers, editors and other staff
Coordinates futures calendar
Assists with identifying prospective guests and newsmakers for booking producers
Copy edits scripts and content
Serves as a senior leader in the control room
Helps implement training and best practices for team
Provides ongoing mentoring and support to staff
Manage editorial relationships and collaboration with other teams
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market
Experience covering politics and government
Strong news judgement
Quick decision maker and creative thinker
Effective coach and mentor to staff of all experience levels
Collaborative team player who advocates for their show but find ways to elevate network reporting
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency with ENPS
Flexibility to work different shifts
Salary Range: (per experience): $115,000 – $135,000
