Your New CNN Role

CNN is hiring a multi-platform video producer to join its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong – with a strong focus on US domestic news.

The successful candidate will thrive in a pressurized deadline-driven environment, covering the big, important stories of the day with accuracy and speed.

Working as part of a diverse, highly collaborative newsroom, the successful candidate will serve as a vital link in CNN’s follow-the-sun operation to ensure consistent, multiplatform coverage around the clock – including weekends.

The successful candidate will share our insatiable appetite for breaking news and chasing fast-moving stories across time-zones, while helping to drive international and domestic coverage throughout the US overnight hours.

From civil unrest to natural disasters, the successful candidate will respond in real-time to breaking events, identifying, gathering, and clearing video content, as well as editing and producing video for audiences around the world across multiple digital and broadcast platforms.

The successful candidate must have strong editorial judgment, demonstrated versatility and experience covering US news.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Identify, gather, and clear distinctive video content for creative use across video-first platforms

  • Produce and/or edit video with CNN’s audiences in mind

  • Communicate with teams across CNN, including those in the field

  • Help verify key video, audio, and image elements, while ensuring all content is compliant legally and consistent with CNN standards and practices by partnering with teams who oversee these functions

  • Comfortable switching between US and international news priorities, depending on needs

  • Identify and communicate video editorial quickly and clearly to all platforms

Qualifications & Experience

  • Heightened ability to identify news and cultivate strong sources and areas of expertise

  • A real editorial drive with a deep knowledge, passion and interest for US and international news

  • Proven editorial experience in a video first newsroom

  • Experience with OSINT verification a major advantage

  • Strong editorial judgment and an instinct for what makes a good story

  • Ability to juggle various priorities and execute against tight deadlines

  • Willingness to work regular weekends, as well as late night, and/or early shifts.   A curiosity to keep learning, to think critically and a strong desire to make CNN’s coverage innovative, distinctive, and reflective of the world we cover
