Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries is seeking a skilled and motivated electro-mechanical repair technician to develop, implement, and support the electronic repair center (ERC) for Fab 8, in Malta, New York. This position is being developed to assist in productivity improvements for semiconductor equipment, which is accomplished by enabling higher equipment availability and a reduction in spending. This position is in the 300mm factory in Malta, New York. This is a normal schedule (5x2, Monday–Friday position), but will require flexibility across all shifts to obtain the results the fabricator requires. A successful Fab 8 Electronic Repair - Electrical Technician is self-motivated and must work effectively in a team or individual situations; demonstrates flexibility regarding assignments, overtime, and work area.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide bench repair for Electronics (Power Supplies, PCBs, Controllers) and Electro-mechanical parts (Motor assemblies, Servo Motors, Motor Drivers, Cables, Mechanical assemblies), automated material handler components and systems repair/refurb for the Electronic Repair Shop at Fab 8
  • Execute standard work practices for electronics and/or electro-mechanical part repair, part refurbishment, data entry, repair tracking, and maintaining an organized workbench environment.
  • Support fab for critical tool down repairs with high quality and efficiency
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying repeat failures, reporting findings, and supporting senior staff during root‑cause reviews.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education – Recently graduated with an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, Mechatronics or similar degree program.
  • Travel – Up to 10%
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a tightly coupled team.
  • Language Fluency – Fluent in English Language – written & verbal
  • Physical Capacity Demands
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
  • Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment
  • Lifting to 40 pounds / bending / twisting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic and electro-mechanical repair
  • Strong team player with ability to work well within a global team

Expected Salary Range

$41,400.00 - $67,200.00
