Summary of the Job: 

The Director of New Business will lead business development activity for Carmichael Lynch. This individual must be passionate about the creative industry, and responsibilities will include responding to inbound inquiries, targeted proactive outreach efforts, and ensuring internal collaboration. The Director of New Business will partner with agency leadership to strengthen and optimize the new business process, with the goal of securing new client opportunities and driving agency growth and creative opportunities. 

In addition, this role is responsible to manage/oversee the New Business Supervisor & Designer and New Business Specialist. 

 

Essential Functions/Principal Accountabilities of the Job:

 

  1. Day-to-day leading/directing of new business efforts, including but not limited to: 
  • Responding to all inbound inquiries from search consultants and prospects
  • Evaluating all inbound prospects against agreed-upon criteria, and determining plan for agency response and next steps
  • Content development, production and quality control of all new business materials leaving the agency.
  • Bring creativity and imagination to how we package our agency point of view. 
  • Regular communication with key leadership team members during all stages of process
  • Leading the pitch process from beginning inquiry/RFI stage through final creative presentation. This includes managing timing and expectations for the team, helping to position the agency for success and serving as consistent point of contact for search consultant and/or client contact.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key search consultants, including regular communications about agency news
  • Developing case studies and partnering with the agency marcomm team on packaging our work and results in service of agency visibility and recognition.

 

  1. Personnel development, including but not limited to: 
  • Completing staff performance reviews to promote, hire or replace team members as needed
  • Encouraging effective and efficient personnel performance through team building, leadership, motivation, training, coaching and professional development and growth;
  • Establishing departmental procedures, work instructions and/or measurement systems consistent with Agency policies, processes and directives; 
  • displaying open communication with all related personnel of the Agency; and
  • creating and supporting a culture of strong, happy, creative, productive and loyal team members.

 

  1. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Keeping Agency Leaders current on all new business activity – upcoming and ongoing.
  • Sharing new business news with agency as needed/appropriate
  • Attending industry conferences
  • Attending new business events, and engaging partner resources when necessary

Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed.  OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

 

Working Relationships, Autonomy, and Supervision:

The Director of New Business must interact regularly, and collaborate effectively with all personnel of CL but specifically and regularly with the ELT.

This position directly manages/supervises: New Business Supervisor & Designer and New Business Specialist

 

Required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge:

  1. Education:
    1. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, or a closely-related field.
  1. Skills and Experience:
    1. A minimum of 8 years of new business experience in an agency setting
    2. Proven ability to manage senior-level new business teams
    3. Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines

The salary range for this position is listed below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to budget, relevant experience, qualifications, and tenure in similar roles. Consideration may also be given to internal salary data for current or former employees in the same or similar positions.

Salary Range: $110,000 - 125,000 annually
