Howden – Corporate & Commercial are looking for a New Business Account Handler to join our highly successful Commercial Schemes division, providing maternity cover up until the end of April 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is target‑driven, confident in sales, and ideally brings existing insurance experience. You will play a key role in contacting and converting new business enquiries within our specialist let‑property team, Protect My Let, ensuring we continue to deliver a first‑class service to our clients.
This is a full‑time role, based in either our Colchester or Cheltenham office.
Overview
Converting generated leads while ensuring clients’ needs are fully understood and represented
Building and maintaining strong relationships with Insurers, Introducers, and internal divisions
Achieving and exceeding individual and team targets for income, conversion rates, and lead generation
Listening to client challenges and helping to identify and deliver effective solutions
Negotiating and influencing confidently to support business objectives
Making sound technical decisions that benefit the client, team, and company
Chasing clients for documentation and outstanding requirements
Knowledge
Minimum of 2 years’ sales experience (preferably New Business), demonstrating strong sales capability and client service understanding
Insurance background strongly preferred
Skills
Customer‑focused approach, ideally gained within a telephony‑based service role
Strong accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work quickly and efficiently
Effective prioritisation and time‑management skills
Good literacy and numeracy
Qualifications
5 GCSEs A*–C including Maths and English
A‑levels (desirable)
Cert CII (desirable)
