What will you do?
·Drive the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of the global network infrastructure at Thermo Fisher
Design, implement, test, and certify network technologies and software images to ensure secure, stable, and scalable deployment.
Maintain and audit network configuration standards, site-specific documentation (logical and physical diagrams), and infrastructure risk registries.
Act as the technical subject matter expert for core network technologies including Routing/Switching, SD-WAN, Wireless, Firewalls, Load Balancers (e.g., F5), and Cloud networking.
Lead the evaluation, implementation, customization, and optimization of network monitoring and management tools, including Zabbix, SolarWinds, Catalyst Center, ThousandEyes, Scrutinizer, and Splunk.
Define and enhance monitoring standards and observability strategies based on site-specific requirements and business impact.
Proactively identify reliability risks, performance gaps, and capacity constraints; recommend and implement corrective actions.
Provide technical mentorship and training to Network Operations Center (NOC) and Solution Engineering teams to elevate operational excellence.
Serve as escalation support for complex network incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
Review and approve network changes to ensure alignment with architecture standards and maintain global network integrity.
Support annual planning, hardware lifecycle management, disaster recovery testing, security assessments, and audit activities.
Act as a liaison between internal teams, business groups, and external vendors to ensure alignment, accountability, and high operational standards.
Champion collaboration across sites and business units, ensuring alignment with enterprise network strategy and roadmap.
Lead or support network-related projects, ensuring successful execution from design through implementation.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
· 5–7 years of progressive experience in network engineering, network reliability, or infrastructure engineering within an enterprise IT environment.
· Strong expertise in: Routing & Switching, SD-WAN, Wireless networking, Firewalls, Load Balancers (e.g., F5), Cloud networking architectures, Zero Trust Networks
· Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management platforms such as Zabbix, SolarWinds, Catalyst Center, ThousandEyes, Scrutinizer, and Splunk.
· Deep understanding of network architecture, infrastructure lifecycle management, and reliability engineering principles.
· Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis in high-availability environments.
· Experience maintaining technical documentation including site-specific network diagrams and infrastructure risk tracking.
· Demonstrated ability to mentor and train technical teams.
· Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
