We’re expanding our global connectivity infrastructure team and seeking a Network Transport Architect to join our Production Infrastructure group. This role focuses on designing, acquiring, and optimizing the low latency, high-capacity networks that power our global trading operations. While primarily focused on our connectivity landscape, you'll collaborate with teams internationally to build mission-critical infrastructure. You'll be responsible for everything from vendor engagement to implementing cutting-edge transport technologies in an environment requiring ultra-low latency, where excellence is the standard.
What You'll Do:
- Capacity Planning & Acquisition:
- Collaborate with vendors, carriers, and other partners to acquire network capacity and circuits (e.g., dark fiber, wavelengths, leased lines) that meet business requirements.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with providers to balance cost and operational performance.
- Stay informed about market trends and emerging technologies to recommend suitable options for network expansion or upgrades.
- Network Planning & Design Support:
- Assist in planning and designing robust wide-area network infrastructure that supports global connectivity needs.
- Provide input on network architecture and strategy to meet business and operational goals.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
- Project Management for Delivery:
- Oversee the delivery process for circuits and connectivity solutions, managing timelines, dependencies, and risks.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery of projects.
- Track project milestones, troubleshoot delays, and ensure proper handovers to operations teams.
- Industry Engagement & Networking:
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, industry experts, and other key players in the networking and telecom sectors.
- Participate in conferences, industry events, and seminars to stay informed about new technologies, trends, and market shifts.
- Leverage professional networks and industry insights to identify new opportunities for the organization to improve its connectivity footprint.
- Regulatory Compliance & Vendor Evaluation:
- Ensure compliance with regional and global regulatory requirements for circuits and networking systems.
- Evaluate and recommend new vendors and solutions based on performance criteria, cost, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Additional duties as required or needed.
Skills You'll Need:
- At least 7 years of experience required in network architecture, transport technologies, and carrier/vendor management, with proven expertise in acquiring and implementing low-latency connectivity solutions for mission-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of wide-area and global networks, transport technologies, and capacity planning for high-performance connectivity.
- Familiarity with optical networking and transmission systems (e.g., wavelengths, DWDM, dark fiber).
- Proficiency in tools for network planning, performance evaluation, and reporting.
- Familiarity with RF technologies, wireless systems, and point-to-point microwave networks is a plus but not essential.
- Proven experience coordinating end-to-end delivery of connectivity or capacity projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations are met.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands.
- Well-networked within the telecom industry with established relationships across a multitude of providers.
- Awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and shifts in the connectivity and telecom landscape.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to work efficiently in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Reliable and predictable availability; including the ability to travel up to 25%, and occasionally up to 50% during key project phases.
