Network & Telecommunication Technician IV

This position will focus on migrating our legacy telephone systems to new VOIP infrastructure using the Avaya based platform.  

Job Title: Network & Telecommunication Avaya Technician IV

Hours: 40 hours: M-F 8:30-5 PM EST. On-call rotation required every 8 weeks.

Location: 5 days per week onsite; Melrose Wakefield Hospital

  • May need to travel to our other facilities in Massachusetts include Tufts Medical Center, Lowell General Hospital, and Melrose Wakefield Hospital as neede

 

Job Overview 

This position works with a team of technicians to establish, secure, and maintain all of the computer networks within the organization.  Works with various teams and vendors to facilitate wiring needs for our data and voice networks. Provides clerical and administrative support to Department leadership. 

 

Job Description 

Minimum Qualifications: 

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 

2. Five (5) years of telephone-based customer service and knowledge of computers, telecommunications, and technology. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive listOther duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 

 

1. Reviews all hospital queries regarding Telecommunications invoices. 

2. Reviews and approves all invoice payment sheets and submits to Finance. 

3. Enters final invoice details for payment as required. 

4. Prepares billing reports for management as to total SLAs met. 

5. Reports any anomalies as to records, requests and incidents 

6. Informs the Director of any issues regarding invoicing, inventory and other Telecommunications items. 

7. Updates EMS-11 with telephone MACDs for inventory management of all required telecommunications devices. 

8. Provides General Inventory Reports as requested by cost center managers, Security Department, or other leadership. 

9. Provides training for training new staff members. 

 

Physical Requirements:  

1. Professional office environment with typical office requirements such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. 

2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending / descending stairs and operate office equipment. 

3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate and exchange information. 

4. Able to see and read computers displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. 

5. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 

 

Skills & Abilities: 

1. Ability to communicate technical, complex issues in simple terms. 

2. Understands PC product roadmaps and determines support requirements 

3. Strong knowledge of PC hardware, software, applications, operating systems and telecommunications equipment. 

4. Knowledge required to perform analytical and technical tasks. 

5. Understanding of customer service techniques as required to interact with customers.

This role focuses on the design, development, and implementation of information technology (IT) solutions in order to meet the organization's needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure and the management of the IT infrastructureIn addition, this role focuses on performing the following Network & Telecommunication Support duties: Develops, administers, and tests IT Systems Software, Hardware, and Databases, Data & Voice Networks, Data Processing Operations, End User Technology & Software Support, Conducts cost/benefit analyses for proposed IT projects as input to the organization’s IT roadmap. Provides specific, detailed information for technology selection, implementation, and deployment, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Typically centralized for design and procurement of services; However, local representatives may be needed for physical support and some Tier 2 support.   A technical role that accomplishes work through a specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, apprenticeship (craft, skilled and semi-skilled), and experience.   A specialist level role that requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools through extensive work experience and requires vocational or technical educationWorks under limited supervision for non-routine situations and may be responsible for leading daily operations, and trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and problems typically are typically difficult and non-routine but not complex.
