Job Summary

This is a fantastic opportunity for an NV1 cleared Network Engineer, with some existing experience, or those eager to launch their career in Network Engineering at Telstra. You’ll gain and expand your hands-on experience supporting Telstra’s Defence customers and networks, learning from real-world challenges and working with experienced professionals.

Job Description

This permanent Defence role is based onsite in Canberra (preferred), Sydney, or Melbourne. You’ll work on a rotating 24x7 shift roster and you are required to work all shifts onsite.

Active NV1 clearance is essential, and bonus points for NV2 clearance.

What you’ll do

  • Investigate and help resolve network incidents and alarms.

  • Assist with network changes following customer and management processes.

  • Keep accurate records and support service reporting.

  • Join incident calls and provide technical updates.

  • Follow change, incident, and problem management guidelines.

  • Carry out standard operational tasks and maintenance.

About you

  • Ideally 2 years hands on experience in Network Engineering.

  • Active NV1 security clearance (mandatory), NV2 preferred.

  • Understanding of data communications, routing, switching, and telecommunications.

  • Familiarity with VLANs, Spanning-Tree, wireless technologies, and WAN/BAN routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).

  • CCNA or equivalent certification (preferred).

  • Exposure to Juniper, Cisco, Nortel, or Avaya networking products.

  • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner certification (desirable).

  • Defence or enterprise ICT environment experience (desirable).

Candidates must hold a current Defence clearance to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain an minimum Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance.
