Job Description
As a Network Senior Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will be a technical authority for complex, high‑impact customer‑reported networking issues related to industrial automation networking. You will be the critical bridge between support, engineering, and product development teams to lead rapid resolution of escalated cases. You will investigate technical problems across network protocols, infrastructure components, and system integrations, performing advanced diagnostics to identify causes or viable workarounds.
You will collaborate with development teams to validate defects, influence product improvements, and ensure long‑term corrective actions. You will also provide clear, communication to company partners and customers, ensuring transparency and maintaining confidence throughout the escalation lifecycle. We ask that you be technical depth in industrial networking, cross‑team leadership, delivering solutions that protect customer experience and product reliability.

You will report to the Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.
Your Responsibilities:
- Be an primary technical owner for escalated customer issues involving industrial networking technologies, industrial Ethernet, fieldbus systems, and OT/IT integration.
- Diagnose Experience establishing communication and engagement with prospects failures using packet captures, logs, device diagnostics, and industrial protocol analyzers.
- Reproduce customer‑reported issues in industrial automation lab environments to validate findings and accelerate engineering analysis.
- Collaborate with development teams to confirm defects, improve firmware or software investigations, and influence long‑term product improvements.
- Provide expert guidance to support teams, field service engineers, and customers during high‑severity incidents affecting production or safety‑critical systems.
- Analyze interoperability issues between automation controllers, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and third‑party industrial networking equipment.
- Document troubleshooting steps, root‑cause findings, and recommended solutions to strengthen internal knowledge and reduce future escalations.
- Identify recurring patterns in industrial network failures and advocate for product enhancements, improved diagnostics, or design changes.
- Participate in on‑call rotations or extended‑hours support for critical production‑impacting events.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with industrial networking technologies such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, or similar protocols.
- Hands‑on experience troubleshooting industrial Ethernet, and real‑time communication networks.
- Experience researching and generating leads packet captures and system logs using tools such as Wireshark, protocol analyzers, or vendor‑specific diagnostic tools.
- Experience supporting customers in manufacturing, process automation, or other industrial environments.
- Collaborate with software, firmware, or hardware development teams to resolve complex issues.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- 5–7 or more years of experience in industrial networking, automation systems support, escalation engineering, or related technical roles.
- 3+ years of experience with testing and is important. We are looking for someone with experience across different software architectures, who can apply that knowledge within control systems applications.
- Experience with industrial control systems (ICS), PLCs, SCADA, DCS, or machine‑level automation.
- Familiarity with OT cybersecurity concepts, segmentation, and secure industrial network design.
- Experience with network automation or scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) for diagnostics or testing.
- Background in debugging distributed control systems, time‑sensitive networking (TSN), or large‑scale architectures.
- Product roadmaps, contribute to root‑cause analysis reports, and lead long‑term product improvements
- Background in Test, specifically in testing of ethernet networks and testbed design for ethernet networks.
- Experience with network technologies including (STP, VLANs, DTP, VTP, IGMP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, Flex links, ACLs, DLR, PRP, HSR, MRP…)
- Experience with Cisco IE/Stratix networking switches and routers.
- You have or be able to quickly obtain professional and expert level Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE…) to prove mastery in Cisco technologies.
- Experience with Network management software and network diagnostics and utilities.
- Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development
