About the role
We’re looking for casual Network Operators (Traffic Control Room Officers) to work in our control rooms. You’ll monitor traffic, manage incidents, coordinate response teams, and communicate key information to keep the network running safely. The role requires staying calm, focused, and alert.
You’ll be part of a team that responds quickly to any incidents and helps keep the network moving.
Day-to-day, you will:
Work with different control systems to monitor and manage traffic on both open roads and in tunnels
Automated Height Detectors, Road Management systems, CCTV , Automatic Incident Detection Systems – these are just some of the things you will get to know like the back of your hand
Work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Service and your team, you will act swiftly to respond to incidents to contain the event and keep everyone safe
Incident Management and Traffic Management plans will become second nature to you, you will create these with ease to ensure our roads run more efficiently and safely when things don’t go to plan
Your curious mind will drive you to think bigger, and find new ways to improve our processes, traffic management, and make recommendations
Understand the importance of rigorous knowledge of traffic management policies, practices and procedures, including operational systems.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
Experience in a monitoring centre or operational environment
Computer smart and analytical, you’re fascinated with new technology and systems - you like to jump in the deep end
Driven, resilient and efficient, showing confidence and professionalism no matter how challenging the situation is
Organised, efficient and decisive in in prioritising the tasks that count, all while juggling multiple tasks
Shift work’s your thing, you’ve done it before and you like it – our roads are open 24/7.
