Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Network Monitoring Technician – Level 2 or 3 to fill the position of System Operator supporting the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Systems Integration Test and Readiness (SITR) program in support of the Missile Defense Agency located at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.
This role is located on-site and there is no option for remote work. This is a rotating 24x7 shift work on 365-day work schedule.
Position Overview:
The GMD SITR program is a critical part of our nation’s layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight.
Essential Functions:
Support the 24x7 operations of the GMD Fire Control (GFC) and GMD Communications Network (GCN) component of the GMD system.
Execute system startup, configuration, monitoring, health & status reporting, and initial troubleshooting to GFC operational software and connections to other GMD assets.
Operate, monitor, and manage the end-to-end performance of the GMD Communications Network Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN)
Use SolarWinds and other network management tools to monitor, detect and report faults to hardware devices, virtual machines, and network connections.
Configure router and switch interfaces in accordance with written documentation.
Participate in asset and system transitions.
Utilize training, knowledge, and experience to assess, document, and report anomalies, and implement corrective action when required.
Understand and execute standard operating procedures
Effectively interface and communicate with military, government and industry customers to assist with problem resolution.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Performing workstation and server log management.
Assisting Field Engineers and System Administrators with troubleshooting activities
Maintaining archives of system logs
Accurately recording events in shift logs and trouble tickets
Strictly adhering to all applicable processes, approved procedures, and management directives
Effectively responding to work schedule changes as needed to support mission requirements.

This requisition may be filled at either a Network Monitoring Technician Level 2 or a Network Monitoring Technician Level 3.
Basic Qualifications:
Applicants without current Secret clearance and current IAT Level 2 certification cannot be considered for this position.
Network Monitoring Technician Level 2: Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience
Network Monitoring Technician Level 3: Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant experience
Applicants must possess a current active DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (CompTIA Security+)
Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.
Basic understanding of networking fundamentals and Cisco IOS commands
Basic understanding of Linux/UNIX commands
Experience using Microsoft Windows, SolarWinds Orion Platform, VMWare ESXi and/or Active Directory.
Knowledge of Information Security best practices such as centralized authentication and multi-factor authentication.
Some computer related experience (e.g.: Linux, MS Office, databases, software applications and hardware); Preference given to candidates with knowledge of the Linux command line interface and standard toolsets.
