Network Firewall Engineer II

**This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be able to work onsite as required and reside within commuting distance of Richmond, VA.**

The Level 2 Network Engineer designs and implements network solutions, performs upgrades, monitors security, collaborates with IT teams, and mentor junior engineers.

Essential Job Statements

Deploy, configure, maintain, design and implement network solutions to meet business requirements 

Perform network system updates, patching, migrations, and preventative maintenance. 

Troubleshoot and resolve moderate to complex technical issues with minimal supervision. 

Monitor network security and implement security measures. 

Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure network reliability and performance. 

Train and mentor junior network engineers. 

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. 

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Employment Qualifications 

Required Education: Associate’s degree 

 Preferred Education:  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Systems or a related degree. 

Licensing/ Certification

Licensure/Certification Required: N/A

Licensure/Certification Preferred:  Cisco Certified Network Associate - CCNA 

Minimum Qualifications 

 Years and Type of Required Experience: 3+ years of experience in Network configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting. Advanced understanding in Ticketing systems. Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, RDP, VNC, ping, tracert, ipconfig/ifconfig, VLAN, VPN, Packet Tracer, Wireshark). Basic understanding in Python/Ansible for building and maintaining networking scripts

 Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.   

Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel. May have periods of constant interruptions.  Prolonged periods of working alone.
