About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Network Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Participate in the installation, support and maintenance of network infrastructure

  • Provide technical support to end users regarding hardware and application issues

  • Troubleshoot networks, systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems

  • Integrate, maintain, and consolidate network services including but not limited to switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks and network security

  • Develop and follow best practices and operational procedures

  • Maintain documentation and comply with service administrative procedures, including change management and ticket updates

  • Utilize security and regulatory policies to design and implement foolproof secured network solutions

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Interact with internal customers

  • Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Experience:

  • The L1 Network Engineer will provide first‑line operational support for enterprise network infrastructure. This role is responsible for monitoring, triaging, and resolving Level‑1 network incidents, ensuring high service availability and timely response to alerts. The engineer will work closely with L2/L3 teams to escalate issues and contribute to continuous operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Incident Management

  • Monitor network alerts and events (F5, Cisco, Fortinet, Voice, SD‑WAN, etc.) through NMS tools.

  • Perform initial diagnosis, troubleshooting, and ticket creation in incident management systems.

  • Acknowledge and respond to alerts within defined SLAs/MTTA.

  • Resolve Level‑1 issues and follow defined runbooks and SOPs.

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Perform basic troubleshooting for routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN issues.

  • Assist in identifying false alerts and contribute to noise‑reduction activities.

  • Coordinate with L2/L3 teams for escalations, following proper communication channels.

Documentation & Process Adherence

  • Update tickets with accurate notes, logs, and resolution steps.

  • Maintain and enhance L1 documentation, runbooks, and knowledge‑base articles.

  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures and standardized workflows.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with global NOC/NMC teams for shift handovers.

  • Provide timely updates to stakeholders during incidents.

  • Participate in team huddles, quality reviews, and continuous improvement discussions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing & switching).

  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS/ASA, Fortinet, and F5 concepts is preferred.

  • Exposure to monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, FortiAnalyzer, etc.).

  • Understanding of VPN technologies and basic firewall rules.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.

  • Effective communication and ticket‑writing skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, 24×7 operational environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and process‑driven mindset.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent.

  • 0–2 years of experience in NOC/NMC or network support.

  • Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent are a strong advantage.
