About the role 
 

We’re seeking a Network Engineer to maintain and support the network/s operations that support core organizational functions and assure their high availability.

 

You’ll join an innovative team, who are collaborate to provide support across Transurban’s enterprise wide and roadside network with a variety of project and BAU activity.

Please note – Travel is required to Transurban’s offices, the Data Centres in Mitcham and Port Melbourne and this role provides 24x7 support via an on call rotating roster.

 

Day-to-day, you will: 

  •  Provide third level network management to support Transurban operations
  • Make network security a priority and ensure entire Transurban network is secured as effectively as possible
  • PCIDSS requirements for network are met and maintained
  • All Service Requests are logged in the IT Service Desk system and are maintained with accurate, complete and up-to-date information
  • Liaise with Customers to keep them informed of network related incidents  
  • Interruptions to IT services resulting from changes are minimised.
  • Changes to Network are adequately risk-assessed (with assistance from other team members were required) and all risks mitigated where possible.
  • Problems introduced by changes are proactively identified by post-release testing and support. Changes are backed out if necessary.
  • On call rotating roster – 14 week cycle, on call allowance and time off in lieu provided
  • Travel to the Data Centres in Mitcham and Port Melbourne as required
  • Liaise with internal, external stakeholders and vendors

 

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: 
 

  • Strong problem solving skills and can conceptualise complex computer networks
  • Able to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisation
  • Self-motivated with good organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills (written & oral) with the ability to deal effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (switches, routers, protocols such as TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and concepts (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, etc)
  • Advanced configuration knowledge of Cisco Routers and Switches including Nexus (desirable)
  • Experience with application layer and web technologies including web application firewalls (Palo Alto or Cisco) and caching/compression techniques
  • Computer Science or related tertiary degree (desirable)
  • Cisco CCNP certification (required)
  • Cisco CCIE certification (desirable)
  • 100% Reliable Team Member
