Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Network Engineer – Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL.

Please note this position is contingent on contract award and funding

Position Overview:

The selected Network Engineer will play a crucial role in the GWS Network and Infrastructure team, assisting senior system administrators and network subject matter experts (SME’s) in managing and sustaining network components vital to the operations of associated support networks, both classified and unclassified.

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of network architecture, engineering, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Understanding of network communication protocols and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP) and IP network troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network testing methodologies using routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP behavior, network communications and routing protocols, network traffic analysis, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 3 years of related work experience, or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience, or 9 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Applicants must possess a current DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers.
  • Familiarity with network communication products, including routers, switches, firewalls, Domain Name Servers (DNS), and data encryption products.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in the industry vendor Juniper or Cisco are a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of IL-4/IL-6 networks in a DoD environment
  • Knowledge, skill sets, or experience using protocol analyzers/sniffers (e.g., Wireshark).
  • Experience in Network Management Systems (HP Network Node Manager, Solarwinds, and NAS/SAN technologies (NetApp, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
