We’re hiring a Network Engineer Lead for our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. 

The Network Engineer Lead at EquipmentShare is responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting the network infrastructure that powers branch locations, planning networking implementation for new site, service hubs, and corporate operations across the organization. This role leads a team of network engineers and works closely with IT leadership, other branches of IT,  field operations, and vendor partners to ensure secure, reliable connectivity for mission-critical systems, including rental management platforms, service applications, cloud services, and IoT/telematics devices.

The Network Engineer Lead oversees the design and deployment of scalable LAN/WAN architectures, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and network monitoring solutions used throughout EquipmentShare’s nationwide footprint. They establish standards, develop documentation, lead network initiatives, and guide engineers through complex troubleshooting and project execution.

Success in this role requires strong technical skills, leadership ability, and an in-depth understanding of distributed enterprise networks. The Network Engineer Lead ensures the network is resilient, secure, and optimized to support EquipmentShare’s rapid growth and technology-driven operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Will manage, configure, and distribute appropriate IP/VLAN Configurations. 
  • Will design and implement network devices, including routers and switches, and supporting services such as Firewalls and Intrusion Prevention Systems.
  • Manages existing Voice over Internet Protocol and data LAN/WAN networks.
  • Create and manage automation scripts that enhance solution delivery time.
  • Find issues in the network before they become End-user affecting.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation on all deployed solutions.
  • Perform network migrations and upgrades in the 11pm-4am maintenance window.
  • Design and execute tests on new gear as well as validate new firmware releases.
  • Provides hardware and software fault isolation, repairs, installation, upgrades, and configuration management.
  • Implements and maintains configuration and upgrades for routers, switches, and wireless devices.
  • Installs, maintains and supports network cabling.
  • Develop and monitor policies for the use of network resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of new Local Area Networks within new or existing Branches.
  • Additional duties related to the position as assigned.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge and be the  subject matter expert. 
  • Be able to provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.
  • Self-motivated, problem-solving skills, and detail-oriented. 
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and networking components.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, or with a team, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Customer-focused, and models exemplary customer service.
  • Previous experience with Cisco Meraki switches, routers and firewalls.
  • CCNA, CCNP, Security+  or other networking certifications are a plus.  

 Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Networking Technology or a related field, or qualifying experience.
  • At least 4 years experience in network communications, telecommunications, or other related fields.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at time
