The Position

Network Engineer

Job Summary

The GNOC team is a Global team spread all around the globe, allowing to manage cross regional topics. As GNOC Network Engineer, you will be involved  in the operation & deployment of the Global Network strategy. He/she has to perform site visits, analyze and propose a design to improve and match to Imerys standards. Installs, configures, maintains, troubleshoots and fixes the network infrastructure equipment. Contributes to processes definition & projects to homogenize Imerys networks in a global point of view.

Your Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer may be involved depending on the team activity into Run (80%) a/o Build (20%)topics.

Run activities may includes: 

  • Use ServiceNow for IT Service and Change Management.

  • Liaise with help desk support staff and users on network issues.

  • Support multi-site network infrastructure across North and  South America, Europe, Middle-East & Asia a daily basis including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving network related issues

  • Analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware/software problems

  • Monitor systems availability, performance, utilization, and security

  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems/concerns.

  • Perform network system backups and recovery

  • Track and apply patches, utilize standard software package and system utilities

  • Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.

Less frequently : 

  • Maintain a thorough-going and comprehensive network security posture

  • Apply recommendations, knowledge and experience for improvements to the LAN/WAN infrastructure based on the changing needs of the business.

  • Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.

  • Provide training and support to the network support team and help desk support staff on network issues.

  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals

  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintaining current knowledge of plan executables. Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Build activities may includes:

  • Contributes to global projects for the network contributing to Imerys security to support business needs

  • Provide detailed and efficient documentation in order to be reused by other members of the IT community, the management, or by our users.

  • Provide good communication between the business and the technical teams in order to give all actors a good visibility.

  • Help to improve and communicate the definition of Imerys Global Policies for Network.

  • Be involved in technological survey and designing to continually improve Imerys Networks.

  • Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment in a Cisco & Palo Alto environment including but not limited to routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, remote access (IPASS) systems, Cisco VPN Concentrators, MPLS, frame relay, BGP, EIGRP, Cisco ISE, Network Sniffer, CA Monitoring Systems.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in ​Computer Science or related field

  • Fluent in English

  • At least 3 years of Operational support experience  in a Cisco, Palo Alto 

  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including IP, Ethernet, Cisco, Meraki  Wifi, Palo Alto firewalls, Palo Alto SDWAN and Global Protect VPN client, Palo Alto Prisma,, BGP, MPLS, SASE, ...

  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to learn from other experienced team members

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a culturally diverse global company

  • Conversant in another European language would be advantageous

  • Technical certifications on Cisco, Palo Altos..

  • Experience in cloud networking architecture
