Aurecon is seeking an experienced Senior Hydraulic & Modelling Engineer to help shape New Zealand’s Water future and deliver the water and wastewater networks that keep our communities flowing.
You will lead the technical delivery of medium to large-scale network and transmission system projects across Aotearoa.
In this role, you’ll combine your expertise in hydraulic modelling, network analysis, and design integration to solve complex infrastructure challenges from pipelines and pump stations to reservoirs and transmission systems. You’ll also guide a talented team, share your technical know-how, and drive innovation in digital design and model integration.
What you’ll do:
Lead and calibrate hydraulic models for water and wastewater networks
Analyse transmission systems – rising mains, gravity mains, pump stations, and storage
Integrate model outputs into concept and detailed design deliverables
Prepare and review technical reports and modelling summaries
Collaborate across disciplines to deliver constructible, sustainable solutions
Mentor junior engineers and support digital innovation in data and modelling
What you’ll bring:
Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering (Master’s advantageous)
6–10 years’ experience in hydraulic modelling and network design
Advanced knowledge of InfoWorks ICM / WS Pro, DHI MIKE URBAN / MIKE+
Experience with Civil 3D, ArcGIS/QGIS, and model calibration
Strong understanding of pressurised and gravity systems, pump operations, and flow monitoring
Familiarity with NZ standards (Watercare or equivalent)
CPEng or working towards registration
