GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Neonatal Program Manager’s primary focus and
responsibility is on NICU quality and patient safety compliance to meet the expectations and requirements of a NICU Program Plan. Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Staff consists of Registered Nurses, Unit Clerks, Equipment Clerks and other health care providers as needed.

• Interfaces with patients and families to ensure that care is consistent with their expectations. Ensures active use of the nursing process for patients from admission to discharge and beyond. Serves as a professional role model and mentor to staff by responding positively to change while supporting colleagues through the change process. Serves as a change agent to facilitate communication and transition that supports the mission of the organization.
• Assures coordination/participation of unit-based staff on department and organization wide councils/committees.
Ensures compliance with clinical patient care standards and established policies and procedures.
• Assists Director NICU Leadership with maintaining clinical competencies for assigned clinical area and provides bedside care as needed. Assesses, coaches and evaluates staff level of practice. Develops programs that foster continued clinical development from novice to expert to positively impact patient care and career satisfaction of staff.
• Assists NICU Leadership with maintaining required unit records, reports and statistics for administrative purposes. Ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control (POCT), PI, safety, environment and infection control. Communicates requirements to staff and holds staff accountable to established requirements. Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures
designed to improve operational efficiency. Assists with coordination of QC/PI activities with appropriate staff.
Assists in Coordinating the activities of nursing staff with other hospital personnel; accountable for the effective and efficient operation of the unit and staff including ensuring that orders, treatments, plans of care, clinical pathways are being carried out in a manner supportive of patient care and recovery. Assists to ensure documentation of patient care is complete and accurate in accordance with hospital and unit policies and procedures.
Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations for the practice of all aspects of nursing.
• Promotes family centered concept by functioning as a liaison with the family, guest relations, and appropriate personnel as needed.
• Functions as a liaison with all service physicians and ancillary services on a day-to-day basis as needed.
• May be tasked with other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
__ Registration and current licensure in the State of Texas as appropriate.
__ BSN required, MSN preferred
__ Certification in area of specialty preferred.
__ 3-5 years progressive NICU (Level 3 and/or Level 4) specific experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed in State of Texas as an RN
NRP certified
PALS certified (campus specific)
Certification in specialty preferred
