Position Overview

Shaw Industries is seeking a Needlepunch Operator for D Shift (12-hour rotating night shift, 8:00 PM–8:00 AM). This role is responsible for performing daily cleaning tasks, threading, and startup of the assigned Needlepunch line to ensure product quality, process specifications, and production goals are met. The operator will lead a team of one to two assistants to deliver first-quality production, with support from PCTs and supervisors, and will maintain ongoing communication with PCTs to achieve optimal results.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for safety, operations, and quality of assigned Needlepunch line

•  Support assigned Assistant(s) by working together as a Team

•  Set line up according to required Process Standard to meet production and quality goals

•    Complete Daily Line Cleaning Checklist and all other Daily Line Checklists

•  Troubleshoot Needlepunch line as needed to identify and correct or escalate machine and quality related issues (ie machine breakdowns, weight, thickness, length, CV outside of control specs, Etc…)

•  Complete line reading sheets within the first hour of your shift or after line is running.

• Report any issues to PCT

• Document any changes on Process Standard

•  Assist and perform new product trials

• Maintain department housekeeping

•    Perform product changes as required

•  Start lines as required

•    Build or repair Needleboards according to procedure as assigned by

• PCT/Supervisor

•  Inspect cloth for defects

•   Report off quality issues to PCT or Supervisor

•    Understand and be able to perform job duties of assistants

•   Make sure all required checklist and forms are completed and turn into PCT/Supervisor prior to shift end

Skills Required:

•   Teamwork skills

•   Ability to communicate effectively

•   Mechanical Aptitude - Must understand all components on the Needlepunch line and how they function

• Ability to use a computer (USF)

•   Ability to learn operational systems (ie Conrol Panel HMI, Scanner, Estop, etc…)

•    Ability to analyze data to resolve problems

•   Organizational skills and ability to prioritize task

•    Attention to detail
