A robust and safe navigation system is key to ensure the required high level of safety of manned and unmanned aircrafts. It is our task to provide a high-frequency navigation solution with high availability, continuity, integrity and accuracy even for the different flight phases in adverse conditions such as in GNSS-denied condition.

Therefore, a modern aircraft navigation system compromises standard equipment such as inertial navigation system, satellite and radio navigation but also novel navigation sensors and methods.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Derive requirements from the concept of operations of the targeted aircraft
  • Convert requirements into a suitable technical solution
  • Coordinate the integration of navigation sensors and SW with relevant stakeholders (e.g. mechanical, electrical and SW integration)
  • Define technical specifications for visual-based navigation systems (e.g., optical/IR sensors, feature tracking, or SLAM-based approaches)  
  • Supplier Management incl. work specification, project execution & monitoring
  • Simulation and Analysis of GNSS-denied Navigation System using MATLAB
  • Performing and participating in validation reviews according to the aviation specific development process
  • Support of the certification activities (e.g. with aviation authority EASA)


Desired skills and qualifications

  • A completed diploma/ master's degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, informatics, mathematics, physics, or a comparable discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a system engineer, preferable in the aviation industry
  • Analytical thinking skills, independent working style and excellent communication skill
  • The ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary team
  • Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English, German language skills are an advantage
