As the Naval and Synthetic Warfare Specialist, you will provide expert advice and training support to naval warfare development. Working alongside our ADF partners, you will be responsible for the development, production and execution of demanding and first-rate training activities delivered by Fleet Force Generation Directorate. These positions will take the lead on design of exercise training design and orders delivery to training units, establishing and delivering detailed and comprehensive products and direction as part of a highly professional team that can interact with training audiences to support training requirements across multiple domains, inclusive of the synthetic training domain.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and support the design, planning and execution of Force Generation Littoral Combat and Synthetic exercises. Provide support to planning, management and execution of Force Generation STX Exercises and collective training activities. Advise on the development and review of Post Activity Reports (PAR) and implementation of remedial actions. Support Maritime Observer Trainer Team (MOTT) as the Littoral Combat specialist. Develop exercise administrative requirements. Lead the design of LVC scenarios in line with training objectives derived from higher level documentation. Lead the development and documentation of all required constructive elements of the exercise construct including the details of domain environments, OPFOR, Neutrals and friendly forces. Lead the EXCON elements during execution phases in support of STX training objectives. Lead the after action review process including the Post activity report development. Lead the review of lessons learnt and the implementation of identified exercise improvement actions. Represent Royal Australian Navy interests in single service, joint and international warfare training and synthetic warfighting working groups. Research and support the development of additional LVC training opportunities. Provide advice in relation to the technical development of Royal Australian Navy synthetic warfighting capability, covering evolution and interoperability with joint and allied partners.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PWO Course (Desirable), Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Officer experience, long-range missile defence or Aviation Warfare experience.
  • Previous military experience as Naval Principal Warfare Officer or equivalent as stipulated above.
  • Previous operational experience.
  • Previous joint planning or execution experience.
  • Previous experience as Observer / Trainer.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Hold Australian Citizenship. 
  • Successful outcome of a National Police Check. 
  • Possess and maintain a valid security clearance to a minimum NV1 standard throughout. 
  • Previous operational experience.
  • Previous joint planning or execution experience.
  • Previous experience as Observer / Trainer.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Hold Australian Citizenship.
  • Successful outcome of a National Police Check.
  • Possess and maintain a valid security clearance to a minimum NV1 standard throughout.
