The National Cardiac Patient Engagement Director role reports directly to the Patient Engagement Lead within the Patient Solutions Team. National Cardiac Patient Engagement Director is responsible for a team of community-facing colleagues who serve as an educational resource for support groups and individual patients. The primary function of this role is to lead the team which liaises with community-based advocacy and patient groups and their constituents on programs, resources, and services available from Pfizer and/or related to Pfizer Rare Disease products. The colleague in this role will be critical in helping Pfizer further establish leadership within the ATTR Community. They will work in close collaboration with Legal and Compliance colleagues to ensure that the team’s capabilities and approaches continue to be implemented in a thoughtful manner that meets Pfizer’s high standards of conduct.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing the Cardiac Patient Navigators (PNs)
- Lead field-based team of 3 direct reports responsible for education on disease awareness, unbranded and reactive branded approved resources and living with ATTR
- Includes hiring, coaching, talent development and performance management
- Measure, monitor and report PN performance using metrics that are aligned to brand objectives.
- Proactively works with training team to ensure adequate training programs are available, specifically designed for non-sales field-based colleagues.
- Create a high performing team through talent planning and career development
- Develop change agile organization to deliver results effectively and consistently in changing competitive landscapes
- Work closely with cross functional partners to ensure team vision remains aligned with broader commercial objectives
- Synthesize team’s insights to inform brand team’s development of educational materials for patient engagement and patient support services that fill needs within the patient community
- Conduct periodic field-ride-along in each PN territory
- Manage budget for patient programs, along with PN budget and ensure resources are allocated across each of the PN territories
- Lead team of Cardiac PNs responsible for leading the coordination and implementation of patient programs at the local level, delivering comprehensive overview of patient resources and programs to patients and advocacy groups at various Pfizer sponsored events.
- Develop and grow strong working partnerships with local advocacy groups to advance the needs of ATTR patients upon request, engage in individual patient interactions to enhance understanding of Pfizer resources.
- Leads the development and implementation of strategic engagements and collaborations with PAGs, patient advocates, Community Partners, and other key external stakeholders to drive initiatives that promote the awareness of ATTR and the resources available to support patients.
- Active partnership with marketing leads and teams to shape brand/customer strategies and initiatives to drive patient engagements and meet patient needs.
- Manage the customer-facing elements, external funding requests in collaboration with sales, marketing, and corporate affairs colleagues.
- Drive collaboration with regional cross functional partners to ensure the integrated patient offerings support intended objectives in the context of the regional market dynamics.
- Collaborate with global and local medical affairs teams to deliver advocacy presentations and ensure the patient voice is incorporated into initiatives.
- Ensure all aspects of patient engagement interactions are implemented in a thoughtful manner that meets Pfizer’s high standards of conduct.
- Conduct regular meetings with Compliance and Legal to assess customer engagement plans and interactions.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of above brand PN resources.
- Develop national business objectives and define key performance metrics that are aligned to brand objectives.
- Partner with Planning & Innovation to closely monitor national business trends and community perception and implement processes to accelerate performance, enhance presence and patient engagement services.
- Attend and present at industry conferences and congresses representing Pfizer to the Rare Disease community.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience working with Community Based Organizations or Patient Advocacy Groups
- Experience working with Health Systems and navigating Cross functional working relationships
- 10+ years of experience in advocacy, pharmaceutical, medical sales or account management
- Demonstrated understanding of the US health care system
- Deep understanding of US health care environment and the payer/reimbursement space
- Track record of success in developing, implementing and executing strategies that drive business performance
- Demonstrated strong strategic and analytical skills
- Demonstrated business acumen
- Ability to respond effectively to multiple priorities and tight timelines
- Demonstration of strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify alternative scenarios, resulting implications, and development of pragmatic recommendations for direction or action
- Ability to build and maintain productive collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication skills: ability to navigate internal organization/processes, mobilize key stakeholders and engage both colleagues and leadership
- Track record of leading initiatives that meet or exceed organizational performance targets
- Ability to provide clear direction, coach and engage team members

Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree
- Previous supervisory/people management experience preferred and ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change and deliver on business objectives

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $182,000.00 to $303,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
