Job Purpose

GSK is looking to hire a National Government Affairs & Market Access Lead to join our Market Access & Government Affairs Team. This role is hybrid with and reports directly to the Director of Government Affairs. This position covers Western Canada territory as well as Ontario. The ideal candidate will reside in or near the covered territories.
 

The National Government Affairs & Market Access Lead is responsible for defining and executing an integrated national strategy for government relations, public policy, and market access to support optimal patient access to innovative medicines across Canada. The role leads engagement with federal, provincial, and territorial stakeholders, shapes policy and reimbursement environments, and partners cross-functionally to ensure alignment between access strategy, health system priorities, and organizational objectives. This role operates in a highly complex and visible environment, requiring strong strategic leadership, stakeholder influence, and deep understanding of the Canadian healthcare and reimbursement landscape.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

• Develop and implement a national government relations strategy across federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions to support access and policy objectives
• Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with policymakers, government officials, public payers, and key health system decision makers
• Monitor, assess, and proactively influence legislative, regulatory, and policy developments impacting pharmaceuticals, healthcare funding, and patient access
• Represent the organization in external policy forums, consultations, and industry associations to advance evidence based and patient centred policy positions
• Define and execute national payer strategies to support pricing, reimbursement, and formulary access across public and private drug plans
• Support and contribute to high quality submissions and engagement related to HTA, public funding decisions, and pan Canadian pharmaceutical initiatives
• Partner closely with Medical, Commercial, HEOR, Regulatory, Legal, and Global teams to ensure aligned and compliant access strategies
• Serve as a national subject matter expert and strategic advisor on government relations and access related risks, opportunities, and trends
• Translate complex policy and payer insights into clear strategic recommendations for internal stakeholders and leadership
• Lead cross functional planning and execution to ensure government relations and access strategies are integrated with broader business and patient objectives
• Strengthen relationships with patient organizations, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders to support sustainable and equitable access solutions
• Contribute to responsible advocacy initiatives that elevate patient and community perspectives within health policy and access discussions

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

• Bachelor’s degree completed
• 5+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry in market access or in government relations/communications
• Expertise in maneuvering within the government system, especially within the provincial drug plans and health agencies
• Knowledge of Provincial & National drug policy framework
• Broad knowledge of healthcare issues and the pharmaceutical / Life Science industry
• Firm understanding of the unique pharmaceutical market, customer, patient and health care system
• Strong track record of delivering results in a quick-changing and high-energy environment
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive, innovative strategic action plans
• Proven ability to multi-task across a wide range of complex issues, and to lead complex projects to completion
• Exceptional project management and leadership skills in a cross-functional matrix team environment
• Proven experience in effective customer relationship management & contact planning
• Outstanding technical written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills

• Valid driver’s license
 

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

• MBA an asset
• Prior experience in HIV, specialty care, or complex therapies
• Proficiency with analytical and modeling tools
• Experience collaborating with regional or global teams in a multinational company
 

This position requires the employee to drive routinely on company business and allows for the provision of a company – leased vehicle. However, to be eligible for this position and a company vehicle, GSK will need to obtain acceptable results from a license verification inquiry and drivers abstract review against its safe driver program requirements
