National Head of Sales, Desjardins Agency Network Individual Life Insurance

As the National Head of Sales, Desjardins Agency Network (DAN) – Individual Life Insurance, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the growth of life and living benefits sales across the Desjardins Agent Network—an exclusive group of independent business owners dedicated to representing Desjardins Insurance. Reporting to senior leadership, you will help provide strategic direction, leadership, and execution excellence to maximize sales performance, build high performing teams, and strengthen partner relationships nationwide. You will represent DFS manufacturer objectives, act as a key liaison with the DAN, and serve as a strong strategic partner across distribution and internal networks to support sustainable growth and alignment. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Provide national leadership for the development and growth of life and living benefits sales across the Desjardins Agent Network, ensuring alignment with DFS manufacturer objectives.

  • Act as the primary liaison sale-related issues between DFS and the DAN, guiding escalations, articulating strategic rationale, and ensuring mutual understanding of mandates and priorities. 

  • Lead, develop, and manage a high‑performing team of wholesalers supporting the DAN, driving execution excellence and consistent field engagement.

  • Be an active field partner within the network by attending agent meetings, delivering impactful presentations, and collaborating closely with DAN Regional Directors and the Director, Business Development, recognizing that territory objectives may vary.

  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships across the DAN, including active participation in DAN annual planning meetings, to ensure stakeholders remain aligned and working toward common objectives.

  • Act as a consultative leader to DAN agents, helping them integrate life insurance into broader, multi‑line client solutions and supporting their success through problem‑solving and innovative thinking.

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders such as marketing, advanced markets, underwriting, and operations to deliver coordinated support, manage budgets effectively, and achieve financial and sales performance targets.

  • Participate in projects within the structure and ensuring project outcomes align with departmental and enterprise priorities.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • A minimum of nine years of relevant experience 

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Leadership experience

  • Project management experience

  • Independent distribution experience 

  • Advanced markets experience 

  • Valid LLQP license

  • Holds a CFP - Certified Financial Planner, CLU - Chartered Life Underwriter, TEP- Tax Estate Practitioner Advanced knowledge of life insurance and/or Tax & Estate Planning or MBA

  • Advanced knowledge of the Desjardins Agent Network

  • Advanced proficiency in English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Available for travel for the support of members and clients

  • Must have a valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle

  • Available to attend and represent Desjardins at client and industry events including evenings and in office meetings and events
