What is the opportunity?

As National Director, Communications for Career Sales Force you will provide national leadership, planning and execution of communication and marketing strategies and programs to enhance the reputation and corporate image of RBC, drive employee engagement and support the business objectives and strategic priorities of Career Sales across all four businesses (MS, IRP, FP, and Group Advantage). You will support the SVP CSF and Executive leadership team and CSF National Office for all communications strategies and deliverables. You will partner with Corporate Communications and Government Relations to ensure that sensitive public issues are handled in an effective manner.

What will you do?

  • Establish and execute short- and long-term communications and change plans and strategies hinged on best practices, to further CSF’s business priorities, drive employee engagement, and sustain public goodwill for RBC.
  • Identifies main communication audiences (internal and external) and determine the best way to communicate information to them and develop and implement a communication plan.
  • Draft speeches for the SVP and Executive team and support the development of speaking notes for national office leaders speaking at internal and external events.
  • Manage the national CSF communication objectives, promotional policies and needs of RBC across CSF and its four businesses nationally to develop communication strategies that will enhance employee engagement, further business performance and positively influence public opinion or promote ideas, thought leadership or demonstrate RBC as a purpose driven organization.
  • Handles more complex media relations issues, e.g., media tour/visits, supervise and organize round table discussions.
  • Directs activities of external agencies, proactively engages corporate communications to develop regional activities that support national strategies
  • Proactively develops positive media relations plans to drive awareness of key initiatives, including donations, thought leadership, unique RBC hosted events
  • Cultivates a feeling of energy, excitement and optimism in the team.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Proven experience developing and executing communication and change management strategies for senior executive stakeholders
  • Expert writing and change management skills
  • Strong knowledge of internal (RBC) and external communications tools and best practices (including social media)

Nice to have:

  • Bilingual in English and French
  • Deep knowledge of RBC (key contacts and working relationships)
  • Understanding of RBC’s Career Sales Force business
