About Salesforce

Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.

Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.

We are looking for an Account Executive (Public Sector) to drive digital transformation across New Zealand government agencies. In this role, you will represent the full Salesforce Customer 360 platform, building long-term partnerships across central and local government.

Our team is committed to enabling equitable outcomes through a connected digital government for Aotearoa New Zealand, honouring Te Tiriti and providing trusted experiences to achieve pae ora for all.

You will manage complex sales cycles, navigate New Zealand’s public sector procurement landscape, and work collaboratively with a cross-functional account team to deliver meaningful, secure, and innovative cloud solutions for Aotearoa.

Success in this role requires strategic engagement, deep customer empathy, and the ability to operate with integrity within a highly regulated and relationship-driven environment. Experience working in or selling to the New Zealand public sector, including familiarity with the Government Procurement Rules, All-of-Government (AoG) frameworks, and digital transformation initiatives, is highly advantageous.

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

1. Collaborate with the public sector sales team, working in a team-selling role alongside a senior Account Executive, to manage sales cycles end-to-end
Drive net-new and expansion opportunities across government agencies, managing discovery, qualification, solution positioning, commercial negotiation, and closing.

2. Build trusted, long-standing relationships
Engage stakeholders across agencies, understanding their strategic priorities, organisational constraints, and mission outcomes. Maintain a values-aligned approach that recognises Te Tiriti o Waitangi and public sector context.

3. Navigate government procurement processes with confidence
Develop strategies aligned to New Zealand’s Government Procurement Rules, AoG contracts, security and assurance expectations, and cross-agency purchasing behaviours.

4. Create and execute territory and account plans
Work within a defined NZ government territory. Build clear, actionable plans that include opportunity prioritisation, key account strategies, partner engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. Establish clear roles and responsibilities for working in a team selling partnership with a senior Account Executive.

5. Work as part of a high-performing matrix team
Partner closely with other Account Executives, Business Development Representatives, Solution Engineers, Cloud Specialists, Customer Success, Services, Marketing, and Partner teams. Co-create value-based solutions and ensure customer success throughout the lifecycle.

6. Represent Salesforce’s platform and innovation story
Confidently position the Salesforce Customer 360 suite—including Public Sector Solutions, Industry Clouds, Data Cloud, AI/Einstein, Slack, Tableau, and Mulesoft—against customer objectives.

7. Maintain accurate pipeline management and forecasting
Demonstrate operational excellence. Use Salesforce to document account strategy, opportunity progress, and forecasting. Provide leadership with transparent, data-informed insights that support prioritisation and decision-making.

Required Experience

  • Experience working with or selling into the New Zealand public sector, or strong knowledge of how government agencies operate (e.g., experience in public sector roles, vendor-side support roles, project coordination, consulting, policy, or advisory work).

  • Some exposure to sales, account management, business development, or customer-facing roles—either in tech, consulting, government, or services environments.

  • Understanding of New Zealand Government Procurement Rules or experience participating in government procurement processes, tenders, business cases, or budgeting cycles.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust across varied levels of government stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to understand customer challenges and align them to potential solutions.

  • Motivation to build a career in complex technology sales, with proven ambition, resilience, and a growth mindset.

  • Commitment to cultural competency, including awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and the ability to engage respectfully and inclusively with diverse communities.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in SaaS, cloud, or digital transformation environments.

  • Involvement in cross-functional projects or teams, particularly where technology change was a focus.

  • Exposure to account planning, sales methodologies, or CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).

  • Existing relationships within central or local government agencies.

  • Understanding of public sector digital priorities (e.g., citizen experience, data interoperability, security, modernisation).
