POSITION SPECIFICS

The College of Health and Human Development (HHD) is seeking a creative and motivated communications professional to bring stories of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni to life through visual storytelling. As a member of the college’s Communications and Marketing team, the Graphic Design Specialist - Multimedia Storyteller will play a key role in producing engaging video, photography, and audio content that highlights our students, the impact of HHD’s work, and advances its strategic priorities.

The Graphic Design Specialist - Multimedia Storyteller will design, capture, and edit multimedia assets, with an emphasis on short-form video, video storytelling, photography, and audio that showcase the people, research, and programs of the college. This role involves planning and managing multimedia projects from concept through delivery, ensuring accessibility compliance, maintaining organized digital assets, and adapting content for distribution across websites, social media, email, and other mediums as needed.

The position also includes reviewing content performance metrics to inform future storytelling efforts and requires occasional evening and weekend assignments for coverage of student and alumni experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, capture, and edit multimedia content (video, photo, audio) that supports college initiatives and events, with a focus on short-form video storytelling for digital platforms. Ensure all content meets accessibility standards (captions, transcripts, alt text).
  • Manage multimedia projects from concept to completion, including production schedules, logistics, and coordination with college partners.
  • Scout and select appropriate locations for multimedia projects, ensuring that spaces meet technical, aesthetic, and logistical requirements for video, photography, and audio production.
  • Draft supporting materials such as scripts, outlines, captions, titles, and storyboards to guide content creation.
  • Recommend new content ideas and approaches that align with strategic priorities and take advantage of audience trends and engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain and organize multimedia files within the college’s file system to ensure easy access and reuse.
  • Adapt and distribute multimedia content across platforms, including social media, websites, email campaigns, and digital signage.
  • Review analytics related to multimedia content, identify key insights, and recommend adjustments to strengthen future storytelling efforts.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing team members, faculty, staff, and students to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment with college messaging.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to an intern on multimedia projects after the first year of employment.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience producing multimedia content, with a strong focus on short-form video, photography, and audio storytelling.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, etc.) and Microsoft 365 Office Suite.
  • Experience with content management systems (Drupal, WordPress) and social media management tools (such as Sprout Social) preferred.
  • Experience creating animations and motion graphics for short-form videos or social posts is preferred.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for multimedia content, including captioning, transcripts, and alt text.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and maintain digital file systems.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and college partners.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

  • This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $74,000.00.
