Location: Livingston

Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary:  Up to £30,000 per hour plus, call out, company van and fuel card.

About the Role:

We are looking for a passionate Multi Skilled Operative to join our rapidly expanding team to work within a busy repairs team environment. Completing individual job actions from site to ensure our clients receive high levels of service and high satisfaction levels. You’ll need a trade relevant qualification and have general commercial building experience with ideally plumbing bias. A full driving licence is required. No two days are the same, so you should be comfortable approaching every job with a positive attitude to problem solving – and asking for support from your colleagues if you need it – as well as keeping the customer updated on the work in hand. Due to the nature of the role, you’ll also need to take part in the out of hours call out service on a rota basis.

Duties

  • Carry out day‑to‑day responsive repairs across six schools
  • Complete multi‑trade works including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating
  • Repair or replace skirting boards, architraves, internal door frames, doors, locks, hinges.
  • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors
  • Identify and resolve minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks
  • Carry out patch plastering and make good to damaged walls and ceilings
  • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
  • Undertake painting and decorating to a professional standard following repair works
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with current standards
  • Work respectfully within occupied areas in line with school needs and privacy
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in school environments
  • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
  • Report any additional works, safeguarding concerns or building issues outside the original scope
  • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order
  • Manage daily workload effectively to meet service level targets
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota when required

Role Criteria:

  • Experience in multiple trades
  • Reactive maintenance background
  • IT literate
  • Full UK driving license
  • Good communication skills
  • Electrical experience is preferable

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
