Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for a Multi-Skill Manager (Level K) to join the Boeing South Carolina Design Center team in North Charleston, SC.  

This is a high visibility role with leadership and technical assignments that directly support the various businesses, including the 787 Dreamliner.

The successful candidate will join an engineering team that is responsible for providing design, analysis, build plan integration, and functional excellence support for various programs at the Boeing South Carolina site and across the enterprise. They must possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills, excel in building relationships with senior and peer managers, and effectively communicate complex issues clearly and effectively at an executive level. Additionally, they must have experience managing both technical and non-technical employees in a fast-paced environment with diverse daily projects. Finally, the candidate must be skilled in building consensus, negotiating, and empowering teams to deliver results, even in undefined or unclear processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage, develop, and motivate a team of highly capable technical individuals and project managers supporting projects on our commercial and military products

  • Provide technical, business, and integration leadership on engineering issues requiring cross-functional and cross-organization leadership, both internal and external to Boeing

  • Responsible for developing integrated plans, establishing and leading teams, monitoring and responding to technical developments, risk management, and managing all aspects of projects to closure

  • This position requires a quick learner who can rapidly understand complex technical concepts across multiple engineering disciplines, a problem solver who can analyze and organize complex technical problems into actionable execution plans, and a leader who can build consensus, deliver results, and demonstrate beginning to end accountability

  • Ability to take ownership / initiative, pull teams together, establish battle rhythm, and remove roadblocks

  • Act as a coach and mentor to senior leadership on continuous improvement approach and tools, such as Lean, Agile, Theory of Constraint, as required

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering role

  • 2+ years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environment

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience working with aerospace platforms and/or programs

  • 3+ years of experience with the application of improvement methodologies such as (Lean, Theory of Constraints and/or Six Sigma) to achieve measurable results

  • Ability to translate complex issues into cohesive, actionable components and communicate at an executive level

  • Ability to build consensus, negotiate, and empower teams to deliver results where process definition may not yet exist or is unclear

Summary Pay Range: $141,100 - $190,900
