Our location in North Chicago, IL currently has an opportunity for a full-time Multi-Craft Mechanic III – 2nd shift (Hours: 2:00 pm-10:30 pm). In this role you will perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on: bearings, belts, chains, rollers, sprockets, gears and sheaves, troubleshoot repair/rebuild, weld carbon steel, fabricate guards, etc. out of sheet metal and Lexan, cutting of metal with a plasma cutter or torch, wire and repair electric motors, repair basic wiring, correctly size fusing, motor overload protection and wire size per National Electric Code (NEC), read electrical schematics and wire directly from wiring diagrams, use of electrical and precision tools to complete assigned work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Work Hours: 2nd shift (Hours: 2:00 pm-10:30 pm)

  • Manage daily assigned routine preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, determine repairs needed or to prevent unsafe conditions or to comply with Company and/or Agency rules and regulations.

  • Respond to alarm or trouble calls as required and maintain a strong floor presence. Functions as a member of Transfusion Medicine/Lake County Distribution Center Maintenance Team and assist as necessary to accomplish production goals and throughput initiatives. 

  • Address production stop situations and troubleshoot causes of malfunction in equipment and participate in implementing corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence. 

  • Maintain good knowledge of equipment in the production area (including setup and operation). Attend to applicable training needs to maintain consistent service to production equipment/areas of focus.

  • Escort and assist as necessary, outside repair persons in the performance of their duties in production areas.

  • Maintain appropriate records of work, keep inventory of spare parts and materials, and provide Supervisor with needed information associated with parts or special materials needed to effectively perform repairs on all equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma (Basic) Associate’s or Technical degree (Preferred)

  • 2(+) years of maintenance experience of Inkjet printers, labelers, and fillers, in a manufacturing environment, ability to work independently (self-managed).

  • Hands-on electrical or mechanical skills

  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical or Electrical Technical Degree

  • Fluent in English, Spanish is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Maximo and SAP.

  • Familiarity with tools within Continuous Improvement environment (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.) and participating in problem resolution.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively prioritize the workday.

  •  ‘Out-of-the-box’ thinking and problem-solving.

The base pay for this position is

$22.05 – $44.15/hour

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
