An amazing opportunity has arisen for a field based medical officer in our company’s Oncology division in Spain. This position will be responsible for delivering breakthrough innovations that extend and improve the lives of cancer patients worldwide through an unwavering commitment to supporting accessibility to medicine, providing new therapeutic procedures, and collaborating with governments and payers to ensure that people who need medicines have access to them.

As part of the expansion of its oncology medical team in Spain, our company is looking to recruit a new field based medical officer to be established in Spain (Madrid, Galicia or Asturias), who will join the Spanish medical team on one of the most exciting projects currently available in the pharmaceutical industry, forged through over 800 clinical trials worldwide across a variety of solid tumors and hematological malignancies, with numerous new indications looking to be launched in the near future.
What you will do:
Bring energy, knowledge, innovation and leadership to carry out the following:
Develop an in-depth understanding of regional and national oncology medical and scientific leaders and their healthcare environment, establishing high-quality, effective professional engagements centered on peer-to-peer exchange of unbiased scientific information and collaboration through medical education and investigation projects.
Design and implement appropriate scientific leader engagement plans, developing and maintaining long-term collaborations with national experts and medical professionals in the oncology therapeutic area.
Act as a medical ambassador for our company within the assigned area, serving as a recognized scientific expert in the oncology products, pipeline assets and therapeutic area, including precision oncology (e.g., biomarkers, molecular profiling, patient stratification),, and acting as a speaker and/or discussant in external meetings or representing our company at relevant international/national scientific meetings.
Maintain the highest level of scientific knowledge in the area of oncology and precision medicine by keeping up to date on all major studies (ongoing and completed), competitive product information and clinical data.
Contribute, through appropriate feedback, to the development of the oncology country medical affairs plans led by Medical Advisors, with a particular focus on the implementation of assigned projects and activities within the medical plan, and function as a medical affairs representative within the cross-functional field-based company structure.
Base all engagements on in-depth scientific exchange in the area of oncology and precision medicine, focusing discussions with Health Care Professionals on bi-directional exchange of ideas on disease-related topics, scientific presentations of data in the public domain, and reporting scientific results with fair balance and in accordance with company and local regulatory standards, while reporting into the Therapeutic Area Head as a member of the national oncology medical affairs team.
What skills you will need:
In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:
Degree in Medicine or Pharmacy; or a Degree in the area of the Life Sciences at a PhD level
Specialization and/or clinical/research experience in the area of oncology/hematology/immunology Experience in precision oncology (e.g., biomarker-driven trials, molecular diagnostics, translational research, or participation in multidisciplinary tumor/molecular boards) will be considered a strong asset.
Strong scientific baseline knowledge, including knowledge of clinical research methodology, implementation and data interpretation, with sound scientific and clinical judgment and eagerness to learn more in depth in the therapeutic area
Full professional competency in Spanish and English
Proactive “can do” attitude and passion for the science related to the oncology therapeutic area, with strong customer facing, listening, probing skills and flexibility
Teamwork and collaboration skills and the ability to function within a cross-functional team environment, with strong, confident and engaging presentation skills
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and work under pressure, with high ethical standards and corporate culture competencies of Leader Behaviors, including Business Integrity
Ability to travel approximately 75% of the time, valid driving license, and flexibility for MSL designation to a specific therapeutic area to vary over time based on the employee development plan and/or the needs of our company
