Purpose of Role:

Supporting the Department of National Defence (DND) in leveraging the capabilities of a large SAP system, Weir (WME) currently has a challenging opportunity for an MS Power BI / SAP BOBJ Analyst in Ottawa.  Our client is implementing and operationalizing business analytics to enable performance management and evidence-based decision making.  This has led to a requirement to assist the client with the gathering and analysis of the requirements for reports and dashboards and the development of these reports and dashboards, and verification and validation of the source data and of the users’ access to the data, the reports and the dashboards.

The work is expected to take place mostly or completely onsite. The activity has initial funding to 31 March 2027, but it is expected that the work will be renewed for subsequent periods.  Although this opportunity is aimed at a consultant/contractor, an employment arrangement could also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Power BI / BOBJ reports and dashboards: Analyze, validate, and document requirements, and develop / author new reports and dashboards and verify / validate existing ones;

  • Data validation: Validate the accuracy and appropriateness of data sources;

  • User support: Provide expertise and guidance to clients, stakeholders and other team members;

  • Participation: Participate actively and positively in team work; and

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with Power BI and BOBJ is required;

  • Experience with SAP’s Business Warehouse (BW) and Business Explorer (BEx) is required;

  • Experience with SAP HANA is desirable;

  • SAP certification would be a strong asset;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop a good rapport with a variety of different types of people;

  • Fast learner, proactive, responsive, self-driven, excellent organizational skills, takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and can work autonomously; and

  • Canadian citizenship, with 10 or more years in Canada, is absolutely necessary as part of the requirements to obtain a government security clearance to the minimum level of Secret.
