Reporting to the Manager of MRB Engineering, the MRB Engineer is responsible for providing timely and accurate evaluation and disposition of non-conforming Landing Gear materials and components in support of Collins Landing Systems in-production Military Programs. Prior to being delegated engineering signature authority, the typical on-the-job training period alongside experienced MRB Engineers is 24-36 months.

The role is onsite role which will sit at the Haltom City, TX facility.

Primary Responsibilities (What You Will Do):

  • Evaluate nonconforming hardware and materials for airworthiness and acceptability, determining proper disposition (Scrap, Rework, Repair, or Use-As-Is) in accordance with engineering requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze dimensional, geometric, material, and surface defects including machining deviations, thread/spline discrepancies, coating issues, structural thickness concerns, and non-destructive testing (NDT) indications.
  • Develop and document engineering repair instructions and corrective actions to restore nonconforming components to acceptable conditions when feasible.
  • Provide timely engineering disposition of Quality Notifications (QNs) and support MRB processes to meet departmental turnaround time (TAT) goals and production schedules.
  • Perform risk assessments of nonconforming hardware and communicate impacts to Operations, Quality, and Finance to support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, assembly, and vendor teams to resolve production issues and technical discrepancies related to MRB and manufacturing processes.
  • Support design issue resolution on new and existing programs, coordinating with internal engineering teams and customers until formal engineering changes are implemented.
  • Provide technical support to shop floor operations, including machining, plating, assembly, and inspection teams, through direct engagement, meetings, and program teleconferences.
  • Interface with customers and external vendors on MRB dispositions, warranty issues, product returns, and waiver requests for programs where MRB authority is not delegated.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational reviews, providing subject matter expertise during CI events and supporting efforts to improve manufacturing processes, product quality, and production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records, track time spent on tasks as required and participate in required training and compliance activities in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • MRB Engineering experience or similar; such as Design/M&PT/Stress in an Aerospace engineering environment.
  • Experience with GD&T definition and interpretation of applicable inspection data, reading and interpreting engineering drawings/models (2D and 3D).
  • Familiar with PLM and/ or other ERP systems such as SAP and Teamcenter.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace/materials engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes of aerospace materials.
  • Experience working in aerospace and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with Landing gears.
  • Knowledge of computing tools and programs including the use of Microsoft Office and Windows.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced demanding Production environment.
  • Experience with CATIA V5.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
