MPS Oversight Analyst - 6 month FTC

Business Unit:

What is Proposition?

Simply put it is what we offer, to who, where and for how much. We provide investment management and financial planning services to a wide range of Private Clients, Charities and institutional investors, both direct and via Financial Advisers, across the globe for a fair price.

What do we do?

Define, develop and manage of proposition in line with the wider business plan. This encompasses the full proposition lifecycle: idea generation, market and client research, design, internal governance and approvals, input to marketing and distribution activity through to ongoing management.

The team ensures a strong commercial focus underpins all proposition activity. We work across a wide range of business areas including: front office, legal, compliance & risk, client service, investments, finance, business development and change.

Sitting as part of the wider Proposition team, the Fund & MPS Oversight team provide regulatory and commercial oversight on relevant LGT Wealth Management products, maintaining strong relationships with external parties involved in the functioning of these products, ensuring best outcomes for clients.

Brief Role Objective:

The holder of this role will support Oversight processes related to the Managed Portfolio Service (MPS) Oversight function, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal governance and reporting requirements, with specific focus on the Consumer Duty obligations for these products. They will also contribute to the direction of the LGT WM MPS business line, working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver desired client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key areas of responsibility -
    • Managed Portfolio Service (MPS)
      • Support oversight of adviser platforms – incoming and outgoing due diligence in relation to the platforms
      • Ongoing oversight and governance on the platforms ensuring they are meeting their contractual and regulatory obligations.
      • Works with Business Development team and Central Investment and Client Dealing teams to support governance around all MPS products.
      • Hold regular review meetings with adviser platforms to continue to improve service and derive meaningful MI
    • Responsible for all aspects of the Consumer Duty as related to MPS including -
      • Support periodic refresh of Value Assessment for relevant products – work closely with Business Development team to ensure these are accurate and timely.
      • Provide regular data-based reporting to Proposition Governance Committee to support the Consumer Duty obligations.
      • Distribute and review Target Market questionnaires ensuring that MPS products are only distributed to appropriate advisers, clients and markets.

  • Works closely with wider Proposition team to ensure appropriate governance routes are followed relating to launches or changes to MPS products.
  • Works closely with Compliance and Legal to keep abreast of regulatory changes that may impact the MPS products
  • Works closely with Intermediary Investment Team for provision of management information data and feedback on service providers related to MPS.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, including investment managers, compliance officers and management to ensure alignment with objectives and goals.
  • Supports the development and implementation of oversight plans and processes and supports the execution of those.
  • Completes all responsibilities in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • May be required to represent Funds and MPS Oversight on committees/projects internally.
  • Work closely with other team members and provide support and cover where required.

Requirements

Key Skills and Technical Requirements:

  • Preferred knowledge of adviser platforms, MPS operations and supplier management
  • Understanding of relevant legal & regulatory framework/requirements
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in designing processes and controls.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, relevant and accurate documentation.
  • Comfortable working across all levels of the organization and bringing teams together to achieve results.
  • Preferred relevant investment administration qualification (IAQ, IMC)
  • PC Literate
  • Excellent Microsoft product skills – particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Co-pilot
  • Power BI knowledge preferred

  • Maintaining awareness of the market we operate in and keeping abreast of the regulatory horizon when there can be constant change in the market view of the impact of new legislation.  
  • Building and maintaining relationships with service providers through appropriate regular contact and communication to establish credibility and trust.
  • Respond to any reported rule breaches immediately and propose workable solutions that minimize the impact.
