The Motorman works under the direction of the Technical Section Leader monitoring operation and performing maintenance and repair of rig main engines and auxiliary systems. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Perform general housekeeping duties and material preservation in the engine room. Assist in routine maintenance and repair of rig drilling, auxiliary, and support systems to meet operational requirements as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience working on drill floor or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
  • If working on DP Semi-submersibles, applicant will need USCG/Flag QMED Document.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safely and efficiently perform all assigned duties.
  • Assist in ensuring that incomplete repairs and projects are finished within the scheduled time of completion in order to keep a backlog of work to a minimum.
  • Assist in ensuring that equipment failure is kept to a minimum and within contractual limits.
  • Assist to ensure entries on permits, isolation tags and logs accurately reflect the current status of equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance around the engine room area keeping motor room and machinery spaces clean and painted.
  • Assist with maintaining all rig power generating equipment and drives, blowout manifold, accumulator and lines, and all air, fuel, water, cooling and heating systems.
  • Report on parts, tools and supplies needed to maintain the equipment for which one is responsible.
  • Maintain the engine room daily operating logs.
  • Ensure all compound components are regularly oiled and lubricated, and appropriate rotations made.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with the preventative maintenance program as assigned.
  • Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner.  Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
  • Ensure the motor room is kept clean and that all equipment is properly stowed.
  • Maintain good two-way communication with crew members.
  • Assist other crew members as directed by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor, Driller or Rig Manager.
  • Participate in the development of newly appointed crew members.

         HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner.  Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
  • Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
  • Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
  • Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
  • Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
  • Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
  • Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
  • Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
  • Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.
  • Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
