Major Duties:
Qualifications: Applicants must possess and maintain a minimum U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) endorsed as Master of Towing Vessels-Inland with Unlimited Radar Observer; or Merchant Mariner Credential endorsed as Master of Self-Propelled vessels of less than 500 Gross Register Tons (GRT) upon Inland Waters with Unlimited Radar Observer holding either i. A completed Towing Officer's Assessment Record (TOAR); or ii. A MMC endorsed for Master of Towing Vessels This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including: Navigating and maneuvering a large yard tugboat alongside naval and/or civilian vessels to assist in berthing; Performing routine maintenance of the tugboat to ensure proper operation; Providing guidance to subordinate workers while the tug is underway; Applying knowledge of navigation and proper towing procedures to operate tugboats. Operating lifesaving/firefighting/man-over-board equipment.
