Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Transportation Motor Vehicle Mechanic to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida at Mayport.
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs duties described in the Service Contract Act Service Order Transportation Motor Vehicle Mechanic. May perform duties of other classifications that have a pay rate equal to or lower than the employee’s current rate.
DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Marginal Functions: Performs GSA calls for approval of repairs. Submits Purchase Requisitions to Material Expeditor. Safely operate shop equipment. Performs other duties as requested.

Certificate/License/Registration:
ASE Certification
Forklift Operator Certification
NAVFAC P300
Lifting, Energy Level, Dependability, Persistence, Time Management, Attendance, Independence, Safety Management, Problem Solving, Dealing with Complexity, Analyzing Information. Must supply own tools to perform work.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
