Our Financial Counsellors provide financial counselling to clients and conduct thorough assessment processes that ensures that clients receive a prompt and efficient service. Integrate this with state-wide telephone financial counselling service (Moneycare)

About The Role

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Locum Financial Counsellor to provide flexible financial counselling support across Moneycare teams, backfilling periods of annual leave, staff vacancies and changing service demands. This role could be based anywhere across Australia and will work from the nearby TSA site. As it is not a remote work‑from‑home position, the locum Financial Counsellor will be located at the closest TSA site while supporting teams nationally as required.

Reporting to the State Manager, this is a Full-time role. Salary is aligned with the SCHADS Award Level 5,

How you will make an impact

  • Establish effective, empowering relationships with community members to support self-determination and participation
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external service providers to ensure the best outcomes for clients
  • Conduct ongoing assessments from initial contact through to case closure, developing and implementing tailored case plans
  • Assist clients to access support services and provide advocacy where required
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in TSA information systems (SAMIS) and submit reports within required timeframes
  • Identify and manage risks, escalating to management as needed
  • Recommend improvements to service delivery based on community needs
  • Practice self-care and engage in ongoing professional development

What you will bring

  • Diploma of Financial Counselling and accredited with a recognised state financial counselling association
  • Experience in social services or a strong understanding of financial hardship and exclusion issues
  • High level interpersonal, active listening and analytical skills
  • The ability to work with people suffering difficulties and crisis
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for training and development
  • The ability to work within a counselling framework is highly regarded
  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People Check
