Summary of Job Description:

Mold Repair, 3rd Shift 11:00pm-7:00am M-F

Disassemble, clean, repair, perform necessary maintenance, & reassembly of injection molds & hot runner systems. Fabricate components for injection molds meeting print specifications.

Responsibilities:

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Must be able to troubleshoot/ diagnose and correct problems with injection molds.

· Disassemble molds and determine parts needing to be repaired or replaced.

· Clean mold plates and all components.

· Check for proper gating, venting, and cooling of the mold.

· Polish cavities and cores as required.

· Assemble molds and components maintaining proper dimensional tolerances.

· Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and schematics relating to molds.

· Have ability to use all measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, travel dials, and their applications) to measure and determine proper mold and component fits and tolerances within .0002" to .0005".

· Wire molds and know how to read an OHM meter to understand basic electrical issues in diagnosing heater and thermocouple failures.

· Keep work area clean, organized, and safe.

· Maintain good quality and maintenance of precision tools.

· Must be able to follow directions on work orders as indicated.

· Record and maintain all maintenance documentation as required.

· Responsible for training new mold repair personnel.

· Be able to recommend design changes for molds and components.

· Responsible for verifying steel dimensions of mold components as required including documentation of inspection results and work performed.

· Fabricate mold components or make repairs on machine tools as directed.

· Performs other duties as assigned by Shift Leader and required to support the needs of the business.

· Must maintain regular, punctual attendance.

Experience & Education:

· Highschool diploma or GED required.

· Preferred:

o Vocational/Technical School – associate’s degree (Major: mold making, mold repair or tool & die)

o Minimum 8 years' experience related to tool & die, mold repair or machinist may be considered in lieu of education requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:

· Level of math skill required

o Competency in all basic math

· Working knowledge of higher math (including trigonometry, algebra, and geometry)

· Knowledge of decimal system

· Must be able to interpret readings from indicators, micrometers, and assorted gauges.

· Must possess basic skills to operate basic machine tools in the shop.

· Basic precision measurement skills.

· Must be able to read blueprints, understand geometric tolerances and fabricate components to print specification/dimensions.

· Knowledge of inventory control practices.

· Must have or be able to obtain a forklift license.

· Must be proficient at repairing all the different mold types with the ability to make repairs and/or components using the following equipment: lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, Ded-Tru grinders, cylindrical grinders, and drill press.

· Must be able to read, write and speak English.

· Basic computer keyboard & navigational skills including Microsoft Office.

Desired:

· Knowledge and experience with CAD system.

· Knowledge and experience with plastics and/or injection molds.
