Job Summary

The role's overall purpose is to be proactively involved in automating, standardizing, and developing solutions for the larger Model Risk Processing team who implement and run the bank's Regulatory and Impairment processes. This incorporates a large existing set of processes along with changes and innovations to the environment. At a VP level, you will be expected to initiate ideas and do knowledge share and mentoring the wider Risk team at varying levels of experience.

Job Description

Accountability: Enablement Engineering  

 

  • Be the recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the processes and technology affecting the Model Risk Processing team. 

  • Identify and develop innovative solutions to reduce, automate and improve the overall performance of legacy and new model processes. 

  • Perform expert root cause analysis of simple and complex processing issues, then design best fit, long-term solutions designed for continuous improvement. 

  • Quality design thinking – avoid short-term fixes and over-designing, you recommend balanced solutions which produce the most business value. 

  • Analyze large amount of legacy SAS code and be able to identify critical bottlenecks, areas of improvement.  

  • Be able to re-engineer existing base SAS processes to improve run-time, maintainability, readability, and overall quality in a balanced manner. 

  • Proactively train, become certified in and test future state technologies (such as AWS, SAS Viya) ahead of the wider Model Risk team to offer informed advice and recommendations. 

  • Assist the larger team of analysts in implementing required and repeatable controls required for their work by minimizing manual effort required. 

  • Be the lead in identifying and dealing with “technical debt” incurred when short-term business imperatives can lead to longer term maintenance costs. 

  • In the journey to Cloud, become an SME in understanding how the existing and future-state model processing will affect direct platform costing and be able to assess and recommend best fit and/or cost optimization  

  • Manage time across multiple initiatives. 

  • Review & understand credit policies and model usage. 

 

Accountability: Stakeholder Engagement  

 

  • Clearly communicate progress, results of investigations and other tasks to line manager and/or initiative lead. 

  • Escalate delays to line manager and/or lead initiatives. 

  • Communicate clearly within the Model Risk Processing team and external teams (IT, Model Dev) to enable timely delivery of modelling data and model implementation projects. 

  • Present findings, design documentation and knowledge share to both internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
