Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Modeling and Simulation Engineer – Level 3 or 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The selected Modeling and Simulation Engineer will support the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the System Performance and Analysis - Test Exerciser team. This role is responsible for providing technical contributions and guidance to modeling and simulation products that directly support the design and development of the GWS capability on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer – Leve 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer – Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Proficiency in strongly typed languages such as C, C++, or JAVA
  • Experience or familiarity with other software languages such as ADA or Python'
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool suite and software version control tools such as Git and Bitbucket
  • Experience developing software using Object Oriented Design or SOLID principles
  • Experience debugging complex software systems
  • Familiarity with multithreaded or distributed systems
  • Familiarity with physics-based models as they relate to missile defense
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope US Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing software for iTEx
  • Experience working with OSF (Objective Simulation Framework) and GTISS (Ground Test Integrated System Simulation)
  • Experience optimizing runtime performance of algorithms or models and simulations (C++ is a bonus)
  • Experience with performance profiling of multithreaded or distributed systems under load
  • Experience working with the Boost thread library
  • Strong understanding of data structures, concurrency, and scalable/efficient software design

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
