Part time position working week days from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. No weekends!

Summary

The Mobility Aide is a Nurse Assistant or PT Aide with additional patient mobility training who provides safe patient mobilization and transfer assistance using approved assistive devices and procedures in the acute hospital setting.

Job Description

Demonstrates use of patient transfer equipment/device use, patient mobility techniques, and body mechanics in a safe manner. Examples of transfers to be performed include: bed to chair, toilet/commode, or wheelchair and return, bed to cart and return, and repositioning up in bed or chair. Able to select the appropriate equipment and method of patient transfer after consideration of the patient's ability to provide assistance, bear weight, cooperate and follow directions. Provides safe mobility, with a goal of progressing to mobility three times/day. Able to manage multiple priorities when necessary and communicates well with other members of the multidisciplinary team in carrying out daily responsibilities. Documents and communicates completion of mobility in the electronic medical record for each patient. Coach staff on mobility and enlist their assistance as needed. Responds to calls and assist with call lights as able in a timely, customer-friendly manner. May provide direct patient care within the Nurse Assistant licensure as needed and time allows, during performance of mobility duties i.e. incontinence care, setting up patient tray for meals, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required. On-the-job training will be provided.


2 years of experience as a CNA or PT Aide preferred.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
