STATEMENT OF JOB
The NFF Filler/Material Handler (FP) works under the direction of the NFF Supervisor or group leader. Fills various sized containers with foam products. Operates a forklift. Loads and unloads trucks and tankers and performs other material handling duties. The company reserves the right to rotate employees to other departments or work assignments within the organization as needed based upon skill set, production needs, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. A valid JCI forklift driver’s license must be obtained and is required. Significant knowledge of the material movement transactions in the SAP system is required. Reads bills of lading, packing lists and bills of material, production orders are required. Judgment is used to store parts to determine correct or optimal locations for parts, correctly stack height of parts. Production priorities for line are followed as defined by group leaders or blenders. Provides input to management regarding system improvements or operating methods improvements.
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OBLIGATIONS

- Immediately shut down production and report safety or quality concern(s) to a supervisor, group leader, engineer, EHS or Quality representative.
- Must use designated lifting devices (hoists) for moving filled pails from fill line to pallets.
- Report all accidents and injuries immediately
- Submit suggestions to improve safety
- Know responsibilities in the event of an emergency (i.e., what to do in the event of an alarm for fire, chemical spills, tornados, etc.)
- Mentor others who are acting unsafely. Report unsafe acts to any supervisor, group leader, EHS representative or manager.
- Must follow Lock-out / Tag- out procedures and policies as applicable.
- Attend and participate in all hazardous and non-hazardous waste trainings.
- Ability to recognize chemical hazardous labels.
- Recognize and manage hazardous and non-hazardous wastes in your area.
- Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements.
- Maintain established housekeeping goals (90 or above) by following 5s guidelines to insure a neat and orderly work area is maintained throughout your shift.
- Acquire and maintain a 49CFR certification for loading hazardous materials for shipment.
- Operates a forklift and holds a valid JCI / Tyco industrial lift truck operator license.
DUTIES
- Fills foam products into properly labeled containers from predetermined tanks. Fills containers ranging in size from <1.5 gallons pails to >330-gallons totes. Record first piece inspection, Verify and record lot numbers, ensure proper product is being filled through verification with the senior operator on shift. Record number of containers filled and completes proper and accurate SAP transactions.
- Loads trucks to prescribed arrangement and bracing.
- Loads and unloads trailers and other vehicles while following all dock safety procedures. This may be done by hand, with a walk behind lift or with a forklift. Verifies count, type and condition of material received from production or trucking firms.
- Follows prescribed safety rules when transferring material to the 2nd floor storage location in B18.
- Become proficient to accurately make CNS removals and transfer tickets with the use of a scanner or other means. Verifies the correct counts and part numbers.
- As directed assist NFF Formulator in blending operation, including hookups and material handling movements.
- Performs required safety and maintenance checks on forklifts and hoists daily and fills out maintenance record sheets.
- Maintains housekeeping and orderliness in assigned areas, performs and completes 5’s assignments.
- Supporting the training and development of peers within the organization.
- Performs additional housekeeping and other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
