8400 Materials ManagementThrough collaboration with Information Systems staff and external resources the MM Applications Specialist works to maximize the ease of use, expand the internal and external connectivity, and enhance the information value of the materials management information systems (MMIS). The MM Applications Specialist works to facilitate and manage purchasing and inventory systems by ensuring data accuracy, supply-chain efficiency and effectiveness. The MM Applications Specialist is responsible for training Kaweah Health staff on the use of all MMIS systems as well as developing and maintaining customized reports.License /Certification Required:N/A Preferred:N/A Education Required:High School Diploma or GED Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems or a related subject. Testing N/A Experience Required:At least two years of work experience in Materials Management, Information Systems or Project Analyst positions. Experience with each of the following software modules: Materials Management information systems, preferably in the healthcare industry, MS Office Suite, Windows Current Version and Report Writers. Preferred:Experience with System applications; financial applications and clinical/hospital systems; Lawson (MMIS). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Demonstrated high level of expertise in Excel and Word. Fundamental knowledge of Access and Crystal Reports. Must have excellent communication, presentation and quantitative skills. Department Specific Requirements N/A Essential Researches and develops appropriate solutions to any Materials Management systems issues. Works with Information Systems to assure that all systems are fully integrated or interfaced where appropriate. Troubleshoots any reports problems with MMIS. Creates and utilizes large, databases and maintains their content. Builds and maintains tables, collects information and enters data. Executes customized reports and queries. Maintains records and understands data elements, data definitions and information stored in the databases. Coordinates data collection and inputs from internal and external sources. Responsible for developing AD HOC reporting programs to assist Materials Management staff and other departments in performing their duties. Accesses data from databases to make data meaningful for further analysis. Downloads data into spreadsheets or other tools for additional formatting, summarizing or combining. Responsible for implementation, maintenance and support of the MMIS system applications. Inclusive of the scheduling of updates of new releases of supported applications. Assists in making recommendations for institutional policies/procedures and workflow to guide and reflect the automation process. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures for implementation and maintenance of all MMIS systems. Works closely with Information Systems to maintain systems and their applications inclusive of managing updates of new releases of supported applications. Maintains vendor relationships for upgrading, installing and maintaining MMIS systems. Reviews, tests and ensures that Materials Management application interfaces are designed and function according to required specifications with all other system applications. Assists in the resolution of operational issues. Maintains issue resolution documentation. Assists management in developing and implementing cost effective and efficient MMIS solutions to work flow issues throughout the institution. Provides education and training of the users of the assigned applications. Supports Materials Management and other departments to determine information requirements and performs all duties to design, review, implement and maintain systems applications and processes to meet functional and operational needs. Makes recommendations for software, system interfaces, processes and hardware to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Provides for or oversee the maintenance of all item file information, and work with Materials Management staff to ensure item file integrity. Ability to work non-standard and extended hours during project implementations.
